Your next step after this maybe is to pay a visit to the Voicemeeter website and sit through a couple of videos to get an idea of what it is capable of doing for you.Īs far as Windows setup and connection is concerned Voicemeeter MUST be the default device both as the outgoing and recording device, shown when clicking on the volume icon as you mentioned.(This step is not negotianable) There are other details like making sure that frequencies of all devices on your dystem are all in sync etc.īut as long as you follow the initial install carefully and get Voicemeeter running after that everything is done with Voicemeeter and Virtual Audio Cable(s) and settings inside apps like Skype etc.Įxample my Skype Mic. Sadly this means I can switch between VR and Monitor during a flight because the sound won't swap over, which is a bit of a pain.Īs stated xplane set its audio device to teh default windows audio device ON STATUP of xplane I'm guessing this simply means that X-Plane doesn't continually check for what output device is active and instead just checks once at startup. If I change this device after startup X-Plane will keep outputting to the original device while the rest of windows/chrome/netflix/spotify/whatever will swap over to the newly selected device.
In X-Plane however I will only get sound to the audio device that was selected when X-Plane started up. All of those can be selected in that pull down menu, and in all other games the sound will then be output to the most recent device I have selected.
On my setup I have speakers connected to the motherboard output, I have a wireless headset connected via USB, and I have an Oculus Rift CV1. Not 100% sure what the correct term is, output device may be better, but when you click on the volume icon in windows 10 you can select where to output your sound.
